Meet Ethiopia Aricha
Jul 29, 2025

We created the showcase range to highlight high-grade, innovative and limited quantity coffees from around the globe, bringing elevated flavours and process to the everyday cup. After many months of sourcing and cupping, our roastery team found the bright and fruity notes of Ethiopia Aricha to be something new and exciting, something unlike anything we've offered before and worthy of being our latest showcase.
Grown by smallholder farmers under false banana shade trees, the coffee undergoes fermentation in plastic barrels for nine days, followed by a drying period of 13-18 days. The processing methods are chosen to maximize the intense, juicy flavor characteristics of this coffee. Once dried and stored, the coffee is transported and readied for export.
This coffee has been expertly developed, with carefully curated crop harvests to ensure taste, quality and flavour - truly a high-grade coffee to appreciate and savour.
Grown at an elevation of 2,150 masl, Ethiopian coffee production is strongly influenced by the country's three main seasons. The Bega season (October–January) is a long dry period crucial for coffee harvesting and processing. The Belg season (February–May) brings the first rains, essential for coffee flowering and early fruit development. During the Krempt season (June–September), heavy eastern rains are vital for the later stages of coffee cherry development and ripening. By the end of September, the rains suddenly stop, allowing the cherries to ripen fully, with harvest peaking in November.
The main challenge faced during this crop cycle was the unusually high levels of rainfall which made it difficult to dry the coffee properly. However, despite these challenges, the site remained committed to producing high-quality coffee and contributing to the local economy and have created a truly unique coffee
The Ephtah site in Aricha is poised for future investments and development, focusing on sustaining and improving the quality of coffee production in the region.
