2025 Coffee Prices and The Small Batch Pledge.

Coffee prices are rising, but why? Structural and global changes are impacting coffee prices. With growing demand for coffee at an all-time high, combined with adverse weather conditions and rising production costs, rising coffee prices are not a trend, they’re the new normal.

In order to maintain the quality of our coffee and ensure we pay our suppliers fair prices, Small
Batch Coffee must adapt to the new climate and as a result, our coffee prices will be changing marginally in our cafes, on our online store and for our wholesale partners.

Why are you raising your pricing?

Numerous factors have been impacting on the cost of green (unroasted beans) coffee for a while now. Like many small businesses within the coffee industry, Small Batch has been weathering the storms and swallowing the costs in a bid not to pass on costs to our customers. However, due to the significant increases over the past 12 months for the high quality coffee that Small Batch uses and to ensure that we keep our commitment to the taste you expect from us, we have taken the difficult decision to raise our prices

What are the current global coffee market pressures?

The following factors have put a strain on the 2024-2025 global coffee market:

Adverse Weather: With droughts or excessive rainfall impacting several key supply destinations such as Brazil, Vietnam and Indonesia, the market saw a drop in exports.

Rising Production Costs: Global shipping rates and fuel prices have risen post-COVID. Along with global logistical pressures, the cost of shipping the green beans to our roastery in Brighton are exponentially higher than last year. Small Batch are dedicated to  ethos of only using the highest quality and responsibly sourced beans., this is the only way we can keep our commitment to the taste you expect from us.

Supply and Demand: The demand for high-quality coffee is growing, with the average Brit now saying they’d rather have a cup of coffee than a tea. However, coffee trees take years to grow and production cannot respond quickly enough.

How are you supporting your suppliers?

The Small Batch Coffee commitment to only serving the highest-quality specialty coffee extends to all our partners. All our coffee is lovingly grown and nurtured by talented and professional farmers then purchased directly by our import partners at a fair and sustainable price. Small Batch always pays significantly higher than the Fairtrade minimum and raising our prices allows us to continue doing so.

How are you supporting your customers?

Our pledge to our valued customers and subscribers is creating high quality specialty coffee and produce new and innovative flavours. Unfortunately, the global and environmental factors influencing coffee pricing are out of our control. However, we will endeavor to keep our prices steady for the remainder of 20225.
